Inclosed you receive a Peticon Exhibited to My Lords of the Treary by Mr Brandshagen for reward & charges in pursuing the business of inspecting & trying the Mine in Scotland belonging to Sr Iohn Erskine which was adjudged to contain a great quantity of silver; Their Lordps desire you to consider the case of the said Brandshagen, as also of the two Mr Hamiltons that were Encouraged to go on the same affair, and to Report a true State thereof to their Lordps together with your Opinion what is fit to be done therein so as the Warrt signed by his Maty in favour of the said Mr Brandshagen and One of the Hamiltons may be discharged, as also the further demands of any of them upon the aforesaid Acct. This in the Absence of the Secrys &ca 17th Iune 1717
